Sift Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sift collects, uses, stores, shares, and deletes personal information. By using Sift, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account and Profile Data
- Name, email, username, date of birth, timezone.
- Dietary preferences, known allergens, symptom priorities, and baseline wellbeing.
Journal and Plan Data
- Food, ingredient, barcode, image, OCR, voice, water, and symptom logs.
- Timestamps, meal category, severity, and investigation plan status/outcomes.
Subscription and Billing Metadata
- Entitlement status and trial/subscription state from app-store billing providers.
- Sift does not store raw card numbers.
2. How We Use Information
- Operate app features: logging, journal, insight generation, and progress tracking.
- Provide safety warnings for allergens and active elimination-plan conflicts.
- Measure reliability, prevent abuse, monitor performance, and improve product quality.
- Manage subscription entitlements, free-tier limits, and premium access controls.
3. AI and Third-Party Processing
Some logs may be processed through third-party services (for example OCR, food lookup, meal analysis, or subscription systems) to return requested functionality. We limit data sharing to what is required for that function.
4. Legal Basis and User Choices
- You can review and edit profile and journal data in-app.
- You can export account data and request deletion through account controls.
- Deletion removes profile, plans, logs, scans, and related history from active storage.
5. Data Retention
We retain account data while your account is active and as needed for legal, security, fraud-prevention, and operational requirements. We minimize retained data where possible.
6. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect data in transit and at rest. No system can guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
Sift is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law without verified parent/guardian consent.
8. International Transfers
Data may be processed in regions where our infrastructure or service providers operate, subject to applicable law.
9. Updates to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date.
